Gusakov to lead National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko appointed Vladimir Gusakov Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) on 15 October, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian head of state.
Vladimir Gusakov noted that the head of state instructed the National Academy of Sciences to enhance the NASB efficiency and its integration into the economy in a bid to increase the practical value of scientific solutions that should generate tangible economic benefits. The President also demanded to strengthen the ties between the science and the manufacturing industry. “This should be done by building technological chains connecting fundamental research, including applied research, with large-scale production,” Vladimir Gusakov said.
This will necessitate structural improvements at the National Academy of Sciences. This pertains to hiring young scientists and increasing motivation. According to Vladimir Gusakov, fundamental research projects should be more profitable.
Vladimir Gusakov was promoted from the position of Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
