International Association of Academies of Sciences awards Belarusian scientist

Alexander Stefanovich, Head of
the Rare Books and Manuscripts Department of the Central Scientific
Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), has been
awarded the Likhachev Prize of the International Association of
Academies of Sciences (IAAS), the NASB press service told BelTA.
The ceremony to award scientists and specialists for their excellence in
book studies took place during the 8th session of the Book Printing
Council under the International Association of Academies of Sciences,
the press service said.
The prestigious prize was instituted by the Council of the International
Association of Academies of Sciences in 2010 for awarding major
contributions to national culture, book science, studies of history, the
theory and modern problems of book culture on a competitive basis every
three years.
An international scientific conference on scientific and cultural
interaction in the CIS space also took place along the session of the
Council. The conference was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the
foundation of the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Scientists
from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,
Uzbekistan, and other countries took part in the conference. The reports
they presented covered topical problems relating to studies of book
history, bibliography, library business, the development of new
technologies in book publishing, information bibliography activities,
and library activities.
