Experts of the Republic of Korea have suggested their aid in developing the strategy for informatization and the creation of an information society in Belarus, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Information Technologies and Communications Minister Dmitry Shedko during the Belarusian-Korean business forum held on 24 September to discuss cooperation in information and communication technologies.
According to the source, during the meeting with the delegation of the Republic of Korea on 24 September Belarus was offered help in working out the strategy for informatization and the creation of an information society in 2016-2022. “I think a joint working group will be created and may finish the work and prepare the complex document within the next six months,” noted the Belarusian First Deputy Information Technologies and Communications Minister. In his words, the document will determine the strategy for Belarus’ development in the area of information and communication technologies for the next few years.
The first joint project in this sphere has been virtually implemented — the Belarusian-Korean information access center. “The Korean side has opened over 30 centers of the kind all over the world. However, after the Korean specialists arrived in Belarus, got familiar with our specialists, appreciated the education level of Belarusian programmers, they decided that the center in Belarus should use a slightly non-conventional model,” said Dmitry Shedko.
The First Deputy Information Technologies and Communications Minister explained that such centers are designed to focus on education, raising the ICT awareness, spreading ICT knowledge and so on. “The center in Belarus will be more geared towards searching for promising avenues for small business that can grow into promising Belarusian-Korean projects later on,” explained Dmitry Shedko.
