Microsoft’s special offers for education abundant in Belarus

08.04.2014
Belarus is one of the leading countries by the number of special offers that Microsoft has in store for the education industry. The information was released by Irina Maksimova, head of the representative office of Microsoft in Belarus, at the roundtable session held in BelTA’s press center on 8 April to discuss high technologies in education.

Microsoft Corporation launches promo actions in many countries across the globe from time to time, with the Windows operating system offered at giveaway prices in a bid to fight piracy.

Special offers are also available in Belarus. The unique ones are available to the Belarusian education industry because it is a strategic area for Microsoft. “Belarus is even ahead of other countries in the number of special offers available to the education industry, because the republic is part of the cluster of developing nations. Microsoft is interested in making the latest technologies available to private business, households, and educators and therefore offers software products at affordable prices. It is important to openly discuss cooperation opportunities. Trust me we have something to offer,” noted Irina Maksimova.

The head of Microsoft’s representative office in Belarus also noted that Microsoft Office 365 is available to the Belarusian education industry for free. “Individuals and businesses have to pay for the product but we give away Office 365 for free to universities, students, and professors. Moreover, in December 2013 we enabled a truly unique offer: students who use Office 365 can subscribe for up to five copies of Office Pro Plus and install them on home computers,” she said. Thus, the company is intent on enabling comfortable conditions for the student environment of the country to use modern technologies.

The executive said that the professionalism in using technologies is important for the quality of education. “It is also important for graduates to be competitive, to be able to use these technologies the way their employers want them to. Besides, any successful organization attributes its success primarily to new technologies,” explained Irina Maksimova.
