Minsk City Technopark to introduce over 15,000 square meters of floor space in 2016

The Minsk City Technopark plans to introduce more than 15,000 square meters of floor space in 2016, BelTA learnt from Director of the Minsk City Technopark Vladimir Davidovich.

In May 2016 the company will add 8,100 square meters to its floor space where its present and future residents will be able to operate. The construction of a manufacturing building with offices (a total of up to 7,000 square meters) will be completed in September 2016. It is expected that the reconstruction of the park will be over by the end of 2018. By 2020 the number of its residents should rise to 70, while the volume of shipped innovative products will reach Br350 billion.

Today there are 29 resident companies in the technopark. They are engaged in the following areas: applied electro-optical and later technologies, data protection systems, aircraft industry and navigation technologies, chemical, biological, pharmacological and nanotechnologies, production of medical, rehabilitation equipment and devices, electrical distribution hardware, energy and resource-saving technologies and many others. Last year the Minsk City Technopark resident companies produced innovative products worth of almost Br125 billion. Exports exceeded Br25.7 billion.

According to Vladimir Davidovich, Russia is the main export market. The Minsk City Technopark cooperates with many Russian regions. There are big cooperation prospects with the technopark Idea (Tatarstan) and the Skolkovo Innovation Center.

Speaking about big promising projects, the head of the Minsk City Technopark noted that the company is gearing up to sign an agreement on cooperation with the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park Great Stone. “We will continue our cooperation with the Russian Venture Company. Our joint education project, a regional practical consulting session in Minsk, will become an annual event,” he added.

The project on the development of a regional technopark in Minsk is implemented as part of the state innovative development program. The technopark comprises an innovation center which assists the expansion of the innovative entrepreneurship sector in the economic structure of Minsk. One of its key projects is the capital’s innovative roadmap.
