Minsk will host the first Eurasian forum of young scientists in December 2015, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Chizhik said during the online conference hosted by the BelTA website on 16 January.
“The forum will be divided into three sections: material engineering, biosciences, and human and social sciences,” Sergei Chizhik noted. Partaking in the event will be young scientists working in such fields as nano- and pharmaceutical biotechnologies, development of new materials for different functional purposes, and analysis of social and economic aspects of the integration processes (the Belarus-Russia Union State, the Customs Union, the Eurasian Economic Union, etc.) The participants will present results of their cross-disciplinary research at the forum.
Sergei Chizhik noted that the Eurasian forum will bring together, first of all, young scientists from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Armenia. “I think representatives of other countries will also take part in the event. For example, Vietnam and China have already shown interest. There will also be some scientists from Iran, the country with second-highest scientific growth rate in the world, especially in the field of nanotechnologies. We have also started cooperating with Turkish specialists. By the way, Turkey is the leading country in terms of scientific growth,” Sergei Chizhik pointed out.
He also emphasized that the year 2015 was declared the Year of Youth in Belarus. In this light, the National Academy of Sciences will pay special attention to young Belarusian scientists. “We realize the need to create for them the most favorable conditions that will foster the creative process,” Sergei Chizhik said.
