Myasnikovich says Belarus-Russia space cooperation promising

27.11.2013

Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich views Belarus-Russia cooperation is space exploration as promising. The Belarusian head of government made this statement as he met with head of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) Oleg Ostapenko on 27 November, BelTA has learnt.

“I am confident that contacts between Russia and Belarus in the space sector will be successful. There will be new projects, mutually beneficial research,” the Belarusian PM said. Mikhail Myasnikovich’s recent meeting with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev as part of the CIS Heads of Government Council in St. Petersburg on 20 November added a lot to this confidence.

“We have considered all bilateral issues of current importance. We have touched upon cooperation in space exploration as well. We have discussed two areas. The first was about the development of a supermodern satellite vehicle for the Earth remote sensing. The second was the creation of a joint venture to produce new-generation space vehicles,” the Prime Minister said.

Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed that the parties had reached common understanding on all the abovementioned issues. The Russian Premier supported the projects and assured that they would be upheld in the Russian government, too. In turn the Belarusian side pledged to create all necessary conditions.
