The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) and South Korea’s LG Electronics Inc. have outlined promising areas for cooperation and signed an agreement on setting up a technical advisory council, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Chizhik said on 2 September, BelTA has learned.

“We have chosen three areas for cooperation. These are new materials, cooling (heat and mass transfer) systems and also green technologies – water and air filters,” said Sergei Chizhik.

According to Sergei Chizhik, new materials will be developed, first of all, for the electronics sector. “The technical advisory council has comprised the best scientists from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Belarusian universities. Among them are well-known experts, scientists who will work on the presentation of projects within a year,” he added.

The LG Electronics Vice President noted that cooperation will be developed in such important areas as the production of household appliances, metallurgy industry, and automobile manufacturing. “Automobile manufacturing can be the final targeted area of cooperation as the sector of electronics and household appliances is full, and we should seek new areas tp develop business,” he stressed.

“We have already gained positive experience in cooperation with the Republic of Korea. We hope that today will become a period for the second wave in our relations that will lead us to the development of new high technologies,” Sergei Chizhik said.
