The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) will develop an economic development strategy for Belarus for the period until 2030. The matter was discussed during a working meeting of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko with Chairman of the Presidium of the NASB Vladimir Gusakov on 23 June, BelTA has learnt.
The head of state wanted to discuss a number of important matters involving the National Academy of Sciences, including projects to promote economic and military security, as well as organizational matters of the NASB, in particular, the election of academicians and corresponding members. “Everything should be fair and in compliance with the law, so that scientists will have nothing to blame us for,” the Belarusian head of state said.
Vladimir Gusakov told reporters following the meeting that he informed the President about the progress in fulfilling the instructions given by the head of state during his visit to the NASB in March 2014. “The National Academy of Sciences has come up with and is implementing a set of measures to optimize the organizational structure, carry out rotation, bring young blood into the team, increase salaries and, most importantly, to integrate the NASB into the domestic economy,” Vladimir Gusakov said.
The head of state upheld the proposal to develop the economic development strategy for the period until 2030 by the National Academy of Sciences. He noted that despite its academic nature, the strategy should have a practical value.
