MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – The process of introduction of the 5G communications technology is highly ready, BelTA learned from Belarusian Communications and Informatization Minister Konstantin Shulgan.
Konstantin Shulgan said: “We’ve been making preparations by arranging test areas where every mobile carrier had a go at 5G technology. We saw how it erases boundaries between the city and the village in service provision.”
Beltelecom, MTS, and Huawei arranged a test site in Kopyl District, Minsk Oblast. They used 5G technology to provide local residents with the same services people in Minsk can get. Driverless transport solutions were also explored.
“This technology already allows starting practical work in this direction because the effect of the 5G technology is dozens of times higher than that of the 4G technology,” the communications and informatization minister said. In his words, new technologies are supposed to reduce costs, increase the competitive ability of products, and enable more comfortable living standards. “It is very important for the young generation nowadays,” the official said.
