Over 200 IT workers from all over Belarus have gathered for the national forum IT Youth 2015, which is timed to World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, BelTA learned from Alesya Vinnik, coordinator of the project 100 Ideas for Belarus of the Belarusian National Youth Union (BRSM), during the opening ceremony on 15 May.
“For the first time we have organized such a major event together with the Hi-Tech Park in the youth business incubator that has been recently opened in the Hi-Tech Park. Today we have gathered over 200 IT workers from all over the country here,” remarked Alesya Vinnik.
The BRSM representative said that the IT workers are involved in software development, the development of mobile applications and desktop programs, and the administration of youth websites. “All of them already take part in the development of information and communication technologies in Belarus. More than half of today’s forum’s projects are projects of the 100 Ideas for Belarus,” she explained.
During the forum experts representing companies that have already gained some weight on the IT market (Viber, EPAM, Apalon) will deliver speeches before the young IT workers. Mentor Day 2 is an important part of the forum. On that day authors of commercial ideas and emerging IT projects will be granted real practical aid for the development of startups. Organizers of the forum have shortlisted over 50 projects, with eight of them submitted for consideration of the jury on 15 May. The winner will represent Belarus during the international IT conference Slush 2015 in Helsinki, said Alesya Vinnik.
The forum IT Youth 2015 has been organized by the Hi-Tech Park and the Belarusian National Youth Union (BRSM). The event has been arranged in view of the Year of Youth in Belarus in 2015 and for the sake of supporting and developing the sphere of innovative business.
