Roscosmos may open its office in Belarus, head of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) Oleg Ostapenko told media on 27 November, BelTA has learnt.
Oleg Ostapenko told reporters that one of the initiatives he is expected to voice at the meeting with Belarus’ Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich is opening of a Roscosmos office. “Today I am going to put on the table the issue of opening a Roscosmos office in Belarus. I think it will add an impetus to handling certain technical issues,” Oleg Ostapenko said.
The opening of the office will promote projects in various fields. Among them can be laser technologies, Earth remote sensing (we are determined to improve this program), the application of the GLONASS system and many more.
Cooperation in space exploration was discussed at the National Academy of Sciences on 26 November. “The parties discussed joint activity and future goals. Scientists and heads of companies presented their latest works, over 67 reports. All the topics were very interesting. I have put down some things and asked to prepare the material we had no time to hear yesterday in order to plan our further steps,” Oleg Ostapenko said.
On 27 November Roscosmos representatives will be given a tour of several Belarusian companies to discuss the details of the joint work. The parties are expected to sign a protocol.
