Science academies of Belarus, Poland to carry out nano, biotechnology projects

The academies of sciences of Belarus and Poland intend to carry out joint projects in the area of nano and biotechnologies. Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov made the statement after negotiations with President of the Polish Academy of Sciences Jerzy Duszynski on 5 December, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Gusakov said: “Together with my Polish counterpart we discussed a number of cooperation avenues. He suggested working out projects in key avenues and promised that the Polish side will try to find funding for them. We are also going to find money for them. Money of the European Union may be involved since the research projects can be important for entire Europe. Those are projects in the area of nanotechnologies and biotechnologies as well as outer space exploration.”

In turn, Jerzy Duszynski stressed the importance of scientific cooperation between the two countries. “Plans have been made to advance cooperation between the academies of sciences along various avenues. The most promising ones include history, projects to preserve [the national park] Belovezhskaya Pushcha, high technologies, including outer space,” he said.
