22.03.2013
Belarus can become an ideal platform for Singapore to produce electronics, First Vice Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko said at the Belarus-Singapore business forum on 22 March, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus is a bridge between the European Union and Eurasia. If you set up companies in Belarus you will get unlimited access to the developing market of 170 million consumers,” Vladimir Semashko said addressing Singaporean businessmen.

Belarusian manufacturers of electronics design and produce a wide range of competitive and unique electronic devices, from microchips to specialized technological equipment and complex household equipment, the First Vice Premier said. He also drew attention to the fact that a number of Singaporean companies have certain experience in electronics production in the CIS.

The First Vice Premier stressed that there are no barriers for the countries to implement ambitious joint projects.

Vladimir Semashko believes that the projects in industry, agriculture, science and education can be the priority avenues of bilateral cooperation. He also pointed out vast opportunities to promote bilateral cooperation in information technologies and communications. The First Vice Premier remarked that the Belarusian High-Tech Park is a regional and international IT cluster which gives a number of economic stimuli for development and substantial tax preferences to its resident companies. “Such renowned companies as Microsoft, Nokia, and HTC have already come to Belarus. Therefore, today Belarus is ready to welcome other big companies from Singapore.” Vladimir Semashko said. He added that the High-Tech Park unites 118 companies with more than 14,500 software specialists. About a half of resident companies are foreign or joint ventures.
