Universities of Belarus and Ural plan joint master programs

The Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus and the Ural Federal University named after First President of Russia Boris Yeltsin plan to expand cooperation. The matter was discussed in a meeting between representatives of the two universities in Minsk on 17 February, BelTA learnt from director of the press center of the Academy Yuri Zaitsev.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the issues related to joint educational programs, academic exchanges and research conducted by universities. First pro-rector of the Ural Federal University Dmitry Bugrov expressed interest of the university to develop cooperation with the Academy of Public Administration, in running joint master programs in particular. “The Russian federal universities carry out a social and economic mission uniting enormous territories. We are always open for international cooperation, it is our priority. The Ural Federal University is very much interested in exchanging candidates for a master’s degree and postgraduates with the Belarusian side,” he stressed. Dmitry Bugrov has invited representatives of the Academy to take part in an international conference to mark the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory which the university organizes in Yekaterinburg on 23-24 April.

In turn, first pro-rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Ivanovsky outlined several promising areas for bilateral cooperation between the universities. Among them is research and information support of the activity of government bodies, the formation of the promising personnel pool and involvement of the youth in state construction.

The Ural Federal University is the biggest federal university in Russia. It has so far trained more than 300,000 professionals. The university takes up leading positions both in Ural and the entire Russia. It is considered as a regional leader in international cooperation. At present the university has about 200 agreements on cooperation with foreign universities and scientific centers. In 2011 a similar agreement was signed with the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
