ZTE to make telecom equipment in China-Belarus Industrial Park

The Chinese company ZTE will start manufacturing telecommunication equipment in the China-Belarus Industrial Park, BelTA learned from Yuri Shilin, Deputy Head of the Department for Complex Services for Economic Entities and Administrative Procedures of the industrial park administration.
ZTE was registered as a resident company of the China-Belarus Industrial Park on 31 October. According to Yuri Shilin, the company is going to build a factory in the industrial park to make telecommunication equipment. “The enterprise will make equipment, which is already sold on the Belarusian market. We expect it will include modems, equipment for phone lines and Internet access,” he added.
According to Yuri Shilin, the Russian pharmaceutical company ZAO F-Sintez and the Belarusian medical materials manufacturer OOO Assomedica may be granted the status of resident companies soon. Several other Chinese companies are ready to implement projects in the park. Huawei Company became the first resident company in the China-Belarus Industrial Park on 20 June 2014. Resident company status may be granted to any company regardless of the country of origin of the capital.
Work is now in progress to design the layout and prepare the territory for construction. Plans have been made to start building the engineering infrastructure in December 2014, said Yuri Shilin.
ZTE Corporation was founded in 1985. Today it is one of the global leaders in manufacturing telecommunication equipment and a supplier of finished networking solutions. ZTE has over 20,000 patents and has established partnering relations with over 500 telecommunication operators across the globe. The corporation employs over 80,000 people.
The Chinese corporation has been working on the Belarusian telecommunication market since 2001. ZTE supplies telecommunication equipment to Beltelecom, GSM and 3G mobile phones to the mobile companies velcom, MTS, and Life, as well as Internet access equipment.
The China-Belarus Industrial Park is a territorial unit with a special legal regime meant to enable comfortable conditions for doing business. The park's foundation ceremony took place on 19 June 2014. The park's concept provides for creating a convenient infrastructure for developing business, granting a considerable tax respite to participants of the project for a lengthy period of time, and providing a set of services to residents of the park. The priority business avenues of the park include the development of fine chemistry, biomedicine, electronics industry, mechanical engineering.
The park is located in Smolevichi District, Minsk Oblast 25km away from Minsk in the immediate proximity to an international airport, the railway network, and the transnational motorway Berlin-Moscow. There are plans to set up manufacturing and residential zones in the park, office premises, trade and entertainment ones, a financial center and an R&D center.
