Belarus, Armenia to cooperate in nuclear power plant safety

23.09.2014
Belarus and Armenia will cooperate in the area of safety of nuclear power plants, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Belarus Armen Khachatryan on 23 September.

“A nuclear power plant has been working in Armenia for over 40 years. Apart from that, we have a research institute for operating such facilities. It used to enjoy the status of an all-USSR institute. In other words, we have a lot of experience in this area and are ready to share it,” noted Armen Khachatryan.

In his words, Belarus and Armenia constantly seek new spheres of interaction. “Now we are ready to more actively cooperate in the area of tourism, healthcare, and high technologies,” said the Ambassador.

Efforts of Belarusian and Armenian diplomats are also channeled into increasing the mutual trade. In January-July 2014 Belarus-Armenia trade exceeded $20 million. Belarus’ export totaled $15.4 million. Belarus imported over $5 million worth of Armenian products.
