Belarus, Finland discuss joint energy projects

The strengthening of investment cooperation and widening of interregional contacts between Belarus and Finland were discussed during a working trip of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Lithuania and Finland on concurrent Vladimir Drazhin to Helsinki Municipality on 26-30 August, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The Belarusian diplomat held a number of meetings with Finnish businessmen.

Vladimir Drazhin met with top executives of Neste Oil Oyj, a leading oil-processing company in Finland and Scandinavia. The meeting participants discussed possible forms of cooperation with Belarus in processing raw hydrocarbons and producing renewable fuels.

Vladimir Drazhin held negotiations with representatives of the company MW Power Oy and discussed the implementation of joint projects in the field of small- and medium-scale power industry.

The Ambassador and executives of the company Leipurin Oy discussed joint projects relating to production of bakery products with the use of innovative technologies.

Vladimir Drazhin also met with representatives of the Finnish pharmaceutical company Biohit Oy. During this meeting the sides discussed the implementation of a pilot project at the Alexandrov National Research Center for Oncology and Radiology under the Belarusian Health Ministry. The project will be designed to carry out cancer screening of the Belarusians at risk for cancer with the use of cutting-edge technologies and methods of early detection of the risk of illness or its symptoms.

The Belarusian Ambassador also met with heads of a number of Finland’s museums to explore the possibility of holding exhibitions of Belarusian museums in Finland and the exhibitions of Finnish museums in Belarus in 2014-2015.

Vladimir Drazhin provided his assistance in organizing the negotiations on joint projects in meat processing between the Belarusian company Beldan and Atria Oy, the leading producer of meat products in Finland and the Baltic states.
