Belarus interested in Armenia’s nuclear energy solutions

Belarus would like to study Armenia’s best practices in nuclear energy, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has said following his talks with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in Yerevan on 13 May, BelTA has learnt.
“We are very interested in Armenia’s nuclear energy expertise. Belarus is building its first nuclear power plant, and the both countries would like to exchange information about safe operation of nuclear power plants and new approaches to construction of power generating units,” the Belarusian leader said.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that Armenia has amassed extensive experience in operating such facilities. “We believe that Armenia will be able to send at least a dozen good specialists to Belarus to help us start operating the future nuclear power plant,” the Belarusian President said.
In his words, during the visit the parties have signed an intergovernmental agreement on the information exchange and cooperation in nuclear safety and radiation protection.
