Belarus, Iraq discuss cooperation in oil and gas infrastructure projects

A possibility for Belarusian companies to take part in projects to improve oil and gas infrastructure in Iraq was discussed during the working visit of Belarus’ Ambassador to Turkey and Iraq (on concurrent) Andrei Savinykh to Basra Province of Iraq, BelTA has learned from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
The Belarusian Ambassador met with top executives of South Oil Company, Governor of Basra Province Majid al-Nasrawi, representatives of the local business community and a number of foreign companies operating in the province. The parties discussed cooperation prospects in trade and economy, interregional contacts and the format of Belarus’ participation in major infrastructure projects run by the Iraqi government in Basra Province.
Top on the agenda of the meeting with the Basra Province Governor was the training of Iraqi medical students in Belarus and medical treatment of Iraqi citizens diagnosed with cancer, heart diseases or eye diseases at Belarusian healthcare facilities.
