Belarus’ oil reserves are expected to rise by 0.5 million tonnes ever year. The information was released by Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Andrei Kovkhuto after the joint session of the boards of the Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry and the Russian Natural Resources and Environment Ministry in Moscow on 17 May, BelTA has learned.
Andrei Kovkhuto said that at present Belarus’ perspective proven oil reserves stand at 39 million tonnes.
The Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister said that the reserves of basalt, potash salt, construction materials, and building stones, which are actively used not only in Belarus, but are exported to Russia as well, are expected to grow, too.
Cooperation between the Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry and the Russian Natural Resources and Environment Ministry in geology and subsurface resources management was also on the agenda of the session.
