MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia should respond to modern technological challenges together. State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Dmitry Mezentsev made the statement during the expert and mass media forum “Union State. Scientific breakthrough”, BelTA has learned.
Dmitry Mezentsev said: “Since 4 November 2021 colossal amount of work has been done after the national leaders of Belarus and Russia signed 28 Union State programs. These documents include the basic ones that determine cooperation in manufacturing sector, in agribusiness, in information security, the creation of joint energy markets, and cooperation in other areas.”
A strategy to guide scientific and technological development of the Union State of Belarus and Russia till 2035 was adopted at a session of the Supreme State Council in St. Petersburg on 29 January 2024. “It obliges governments, ministries, government agencies, and enterprises to determine the tasks, without which accomplishment neither Russia nor Belarus can be competitive, can adequately, promptly, significantly, and tangibly respond to modern challenges, to the formation of a new technological paradigm. It is important to determine the format and limits of capabilities of artificial intelligence,” the official said.
Dmitry Mezentsev mentioned that the Kurchatov Institute, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, education agencies of Belarus and Russia, higher education institutions, and research centers had established joint work in the field of science.
