MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia a halfway through the Union State programs in energy, Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich said during a meeting with a delegation of the State Duma of Russia headed by Chairman of the Energy Committee Pavel Zavalny, BelTA has learned.
In December 2022, the presidents of Belarus and Russia confirmed the course for closer integration within the framework of the Union State, including in the energy sector. The parties reached agreements on the price for Russian gas to Belarus for the next three years and outlined the priority tasks in terms of the implementation of Union State programs to set up the common energy markets.
"To date, more than half of the planned activities of these programs have been completed. The Union State program in nuclear energy has been fully implemented. The negotiation process on the common gas and electricity markets is progressing step by step. The issues are not easy and are sensitive for both sides. In terms of many of them, mutually acceptable solutions have already been found," Viktor Karankevich said.
