19.06.2014
The IAEA budget of national programs for technical cooperation with Belarus in 2014-2015 stands at about €650,000, BelTA learned from Dmitry Mironchik, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, on 19 June.

Belarus-IAEA cooperation is being discussed in the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. A working conference on the IAEA’s technical cooperation projects for Belarus is taking place in Vienna. Representatives of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, the Energy Ministry, and the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry are taking part in the conference. Over the years the IAEA has rendered essential assistance to Belarus in a number of areas. Environmental protection projects have been successfully implemented, primarily those that require the rehabilitation of territories affected by the Chernobyl catastrophe, as well as projects in healthcare, agriculture, nuclear and radiation safety.

In 2014-2015 Belarus and the IAEA are supposed to implement national projects for technical cooperation in four most prioritized areas, including the creation of the nuclear power engineering infrastructure, the enhancement of the regulating body, the alleviation of consequences of the Chernobyl disaster and the development of nuclear medicine.
