A Belarusian delegation will take part in a session of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria on 12 June, BelTA learned from Dmitry Mironchik, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The delegation will be led by Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Belarus’ representative in the IAEA Board of Governors Valentin Rybakov.
The session will focus on some key documents of the agency, including last year’s annual report, a report on implementing safeguards, a report on technical cooperation, and a report by the Program and Budget Committee. Apart from that, the Board of Governors will discuss the implementation of nuclear non-proliferation safeguards in Syria and North Korea and the fulfillment of the IAEA comprehensive safeguards agreement in Iran.
Dmitry Mironchik reminded that Belarus had been elected to the IAEA Board of Governors for the 2015-2017 period.
