The Russian company OAO Atomenergoproject is considering the possibility of inviting Belarusian construction and installation companies to take part in the construction of power-generating units of Novovoronezh nuclear power plant No. 2. The statement was made by Atomenergoproject Director General Marat Mustafin as a Belarusian delegation visited the construction site of Novovoronezh nuclear power plant No. 2. The delegation included executives of construction and installation organizations, representatives of the Russian state corporation Rosatom told BelTA.
While talking to the representatives of the Belarusian construction enterprises Marat Mustafin remarked that completing the construction of the nuclear power plant while observing all the safety and quality requirements was the primary task. This is why the general contractor is interested in hiring highly qualified and experienced specialists.
According to Marat Mustafin, Belarusian civil engineering enterprises enjoy a stable business reputation thanks to the serious manufacturing potential that meets all the modern requirements. “This is why we are considering the possibility of working together. Since our facility is of strategic importance, cooperation will carry on in full compliance with the Russian legislation. Due to an increase in the amount of work interests of our Russian subcontractors will not be infringed either,” said the Atomenergoproject Director General.
According to Leonid Yegorov, First Deputy Director General of OAO Atomenergoproject, the construction project is in the final phase, with the bulk of the work going on in the area of heating and electricity. “At present about 5,000 people are working at the site, in the next few months it is necessary to raise the number up to 6,000. Those are primarily installation fitters, chemical protection specialists. It is the matter we are negotiating with Belarusian partners,” he said.
Representatives of the Belarusian delegation remarked that the Novovoronezh construction project has a practical interest for them. The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built using the same design and will be commissioned in 2018.
The main purpose of the visit of the Belarusian delegation to the construction site is getting familiar with the progress of the nuclear power plant’s construction and establishing long-term partnership ties. Apart from business such as supplies and technical parameters of equipment, peculiarities of erecting the lead building the guests from Belarus were interested in the possibility of Belarusian specialists working at the construction site of Novovoronezh nuclear power plant No. 2.
