Belenergo to cooperate with Finnish partners to generate energy using local fuel

The Belarusian national power grid operator and electricity provider Belenergo and the Finnish company Valmet Power OY signed a memorandum of understanding during the 19th Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum in Minsk, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Energy Minister Leonid Shenets.

The document has been signed for the sake of promoting cooperation in the generation of heating energy and electrical energy using locally available kinds of fuel, specified the official. In particular, the Belarusian and Finnish companies will work together to develop projects to assimilate new technologies in this sphere.

The memorandum also envisages the development of technological interaction, exchange of data and information about power engineering industry. Apart from that, the sides intend to work together to raise the energy effectiveness of heating generation in Belarus, including the training and career enhancement for operators of heating installations, said Leonid Shenets.

The Belarusian First Deputy Energy Minister also pointed out that the Belarusian state institute that specializes in offering advanced training for gas industry personnel and the Moldovan company OOO Flakera Albastre signed an agreement during the ongoing energy forum. Among other things the document will contribute to mutual cooperation in the area of scientific research, specialized oil and gas industry software, and personnel training. In particular, in the future the sides intend to develop training materials together on the basis of modern information technologies.

The 19th Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 14-17 October in line with the relevant instruction of the prime minister of Belarus. The forum includes the international specialized expo Energy. Ecology. Energy Saving. Electro (EnergyExpo 2014), the 9th international specialized expo Water and Air Technologies, the 10th specialized exhibition of lighting equipment ExpoLight, and the 19th Belarusian Energy and Ecology Congress.
