Belorusneft eyeing seismic survey contracts in Argentina

16.05.2014
Belorusneft has plans to get contracts to conduct seismic surveys in Argentina, BelTA learnt from the press service of Belorusneft.

Cooperation prospects in the oil industry were discussed during the visit of a Belarusian delegation to Argentina. Belorusneft Director General Alexander Lyakhov held talks with Minister of Industry of Argentina Debora Giorgi and representatives of the Salta Province and the Rio Negro Province.

The parties decided to consider cooperation in conducting seismic surveys of oil fields in Argentina. An agreement was reached with the national oil company YPF to keep exchanging the best practices and technologies related to the development of oil fields. The interest in cooperation on the part of Argentinean partners was also due to the fact that the Belarusian company uses cutting-edge drilling equipment to conduct repairs and maintenance of oil wells.

A separate cooperation agreement was signed with the Rio Negro Province. A similar document will be developed for the Salta Province.

The industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in the surveying, prospecting and development of oil fields, well drilling, oil and associated petroleum gas extraction in Belarus and other countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela and Ecuador.

Belorusneft is exploring the markets of Bolivia, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Uruguay and Colombia. The company plans to use the equipment of its companies operating in Ecuador, Venezuela and Belarus to conduct seismic surveys in the new markets. It is also ready to purchase machinery specifically for new projects.
