Belarus’ state-run oil company Belorusneft has become a laureate of the annual contest held by the reputable Ecuadoran journal Oil&Gas Year. The Belarusian company won the Best Seismic Project 2014 Award for its oil exploration project in Ecuador’s eastern oil field, BelTA learned from Belorusneft.
The document on oil exploration was signed by Belorusneft a year ago. It has been the first project of the Belarusian oil company in Ecuador. The project envisages 3D seismic exploration works on the area of 1,500 square kilometers. Part of the exploration works will be conducted on the territory of Yasuni National Park. It is not only an important biological reserve, but also home to two indigenous tribes who opted for isolation. Taking into consideration these factors, the environmental requirements to the seismic exploration project were very tough. However, Belorusneft was able to meet all the requirements and thus won the Best Seismic Project 2014 Award. Awards in other nominations were given to state-run oil companies EP Petroecuador and Petroamazonas.
