GOMEL, 24 August (BelTA) – The installation of a BU-3000 skid-mounted drilling rig has begun in the Izvestinsky licensed site, which is developed by the oil company Yangpur, the company’s press service told BelTA.
In September Yangpur, the Russian division of the Belarusian company Belorusneft, will use the drill to make the first directional well for exploratory purposes in the Vostochno-Metelnaya sector. The drilling operation is meant to explore the structure and detect hydrocarbons for the sake of recording them as reserves. The well is supposed to be 3,250m deep. The drilling operation is supposed to uncover the entire section of the Cretaceous period and the upper part of the Jurassic period.
According to preliminary estimates of geologists, several layers of the Cretaceous system look promising. The extractable resources are estimated at 13.5 million tonnes of hydrocarbons.
The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft acquired Russian OAO Oil Company Yangpur via an auction in September 2013. The Russian company had three oil deposits and one gas condensate deposit in development, with the number of wells at 44. Yangpur's acquisition was part of the program to build up Belorusneft's operation in Russia.
The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in the surveying, prospecting and development of oil fields, well drilling, oil and associated petroleum gas extraction in Belarus and a number of other countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Ecuador.
