BelTA to host press conference on nuclear safety on 21 April

A press conference “Nuclear safety in Belarus: overview, international obligations, assessment” will start at the BelTA press center at 14:00 on 21 April.

The Sixth Review Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety was held at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna at the end of March. Thus, top on the agenda of the press conference will be Belarus’ international nuclear security obligations, the feedback on Belarus’ country report presented at the review meeting, and control over the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Taking part in the press conference will be First Deputy Emergencies Minister of Belarus Vasily Stepanenko, Head of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department (Gosatomnadzor) under the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry Olga Lugovskaya, Acting Director General of the United Energy and Nuclear Research Institute Sosny of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Andrei Kuzmin and a representative of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
