The Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University suggests expanding cooperation with Belarusian universities for the sake of training nuclear industry personnel. The information was released by the Russian university's Rector Sergei Dmitriyev to Belarusian and Russian reporters, who took part in the media tour Energy of the Future for the Union State on 28 October, BelTA has learned.
At present the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University maintains partnering ties with several Belarusian universities. The number includes the Belarusian State University, including the university's A.D. Sakharov International Environmental Institute, the Belarusian National Technical University, and the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. In accordance with the interuniversity cooperation program Belarusian students can study in the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University while professors can improve their qualifications. There is no doubt that the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University is ready to expand the program of cooperation with Belarusian universities, said Sergei Dmitriyev.
Apart from that, the Russian university's department for systems designed to manage the lifecycle of complex engineering facilities offers refresher courses to personnel of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. About 30 people have used the opportunity so far. “The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built in accordance with the state-of-the-art design AES-2006. We have all the conditions to offer quality training to specialists for the sake of safe operation of power plants of this kind,” explained Sergei Dmitriyev.
The Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University assists with personnel training and research projects of the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom. According to the university's Rector, the approach allows the students to put their university knowledge to practical use right away.
The Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R.E. Alekseyev is a training and research facility. It is one of the largest engineering education universities in Russia's Volga Federal District. The university employs over 1,000 professors and trains about 30,000 students. At present the university offers training in 44 bachelor degree courses and 40 master courses. In 2015 the university was ranked as one of Russia's top 50 universities according to the RAEX agency's ranking.
Belarusian and Russian reporters are expected to stay in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast on a media tour on 28-30 October. The tour has been organized by the Permanent Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the international news agency Russia Today with assistance of the National Press Center of Belarus and the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast government.
