Children from Fukushima area to come to Belarus for recuperation

President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed an order to earmark resources to arrange recuperative holidays of children from the Fukushima-affected regions in Belarus, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

“According to the agreement with the Japanese side, 25 teenagers from Japan will come to Belarus for recuperative holidays from 29 July to 9 August 2013. The children will be hosted by the Belarusian recreation and training center Zubrenok,” the press service said.

Belarus provided similar humanitarian assistance in 2012 when 10 Japanese children from the disaster-hit region accompanied by two grown-ups stayed at Zubrenok. The recuperation program also included entertainment activities. The children had excursions around Belarus during which they got familiar with the Belarusian historical and cultural heritage. They were offered various treatment procedures in order to make the recuperation more efficient. The kids had their thyroid ultrasound, too.
