China’s Sinohydro interested in alternative energy projects in Belarus

Sinohydro’s investment interest in alternative energy projects in Belarus and participation in infrastructure projects were high on the agenda of the talks with representatives of the Chinese company in the National Agency for Investment and Privatization (NAIP), BelTA learned from NAIP.

Sinohydro’s representatives also held talks with executives of the Industrial Park Development Dompany to discuss Sinohydro’s participation in the development and construction of the Belarusian-Chinese Industrial Park. Representatives of the Chinese company were given a presentation of the investment climate of Belarus and the investment environment in the industrial park. The special legal regime and tax benefits were discussed in detail.

Sinohydro is a large state-owned company (employs 130,000), involved in hydro-power engineering and construction. The company is also engaged in investment and project financing. In the 2012 Engineering News-Record Top 225 Global Contractors the company was the 14th and 6th among Chinese construction companies. The company is currently implementing 311 projects in 70 countries around the world. The total value of these contracts is estimated at $29 billion.
