Construction of powerful solar park in Mogilev Oblast begins

19.02.2016
The implementation of the project to create a solar park with the output capacity of 109MW has begun in Cherikov District, Mogilev Oblast, BelTA learned from Sergei Poluichik, First Deputy Chairman of the Cherikov District Executive Committee, on 19 February.

According to the source, the Irish company Cameliasiade Limited has already started design and survey work and plans to finish it in early March. The main project to create a photovoltaic power plant with the output capacity of 109MW will begin afterwards. The company has already spent Br1.6 billion and plans to invest a total of about Br600 billion.

Proprietary funds and borrowed money will be used to implement the project. The solar power plant will be built near the village of Blizhnyaya Rechitsa on a land plot as large as 200ha. The land plot is now listed as land earmarked for investment projects in the area of industrial production and the construction of solar parks.

The future solar power plant will be the most powerful one in the oblast. Its electricity will be transferred to the Mogilev Oblast electric company Mogilevenergo. The amount of electricity the solar park is expected to generate will satisfy the demand of several districts of Mogilev Oblast at once. The state budget is expected to receive about Br69.6 billion in tax revenues and other annual fees as a result of the project.

The first deputy head of the Cherikov District administration noted that they had received another serious proposal from a German company, which suggests implementing an alternative energy project with rather large investments. The location for this project is now being selected, terms of operation are being discussed, said Sergei Poluichik.
