Three time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva will become the Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Belarus, BelTA learnt from the Department of Public Information of the UN Office in Belarus.
The ceremony of appointing Darya Domracheva the Goodwill Ambassador will take place at the Minsk City Hall on 31 May during the visit of UNDP Administrator Helen Clark to Belarus.
Helen Clark will be in Belarus on 28-31 May. She will be the first UNDP head to visit Belarus. Helen Clark will meet with Belarusian counterparts to discuss cooperation prospects and new projects, including Chernobyl-related projects.
Helen Clark is expected to tour the Polesie State Radiation and Ecological Reserve and the town of Vyatka and to take part in the visiting session of the UN Inter-Agency Task Force on Chernobyl. Taking part in the session will be representatives of donor countries and the civil society, experts and delegates from the Chernobyl-affected regions of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.
