MOSCOW, 20 September (BelTA) – Countries of the Eurasian Economic Union have agreed draft rules on mutual trade in electricity on the common electricity market, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission told BelTA after a session of the Council of Heads of Authorized Bodies of the EAEU Member States in the Energy Sector.

Heads of the relevant ministries of the Eurasian Economic Union countries discussed principal matters of the draft rules on mutual trade in electricity on the union's common electricity market. Participants of the session agreed that the council will oversee how the centralized trade operator discharges registrar functions for 24 hours in advance. The decision was made after a visit to the administrator of the trade system of the wholesale electricity market. This organization had been chosen by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission to be the centralized trade operator. Participants of the session also paid close attention to the principle of defining the cost of hourly deviations from factual figures of the net power flow from planned figures. A compromise was reached during the session. A mutually acceptable variant of the relevant paragraph of the draft rules was worked out.

The Council of Heads of Authorized Bodies of the EAEU Member States in the Energy Sector also agreed amendments to the regulation on the council.

“As a result of the discussion the draft electricity trade rules and amendments to the regulation on the council were agreed. It is a great step towards setting up the common electricity market of the Eurasian Economic Union,” stated Arzybek Kozhoshev, a member of the Board (Minister) on Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
