MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich has held a working meeting with Arzybek Kozhoshev, member of the Board (Minister) for Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission (ECC), BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry.
The parties considered issues related to the development of common energy markets in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The parties also discussed the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the EAEU Council of Heads of Authorized Energy Authorities.
“This year we have made strong progress on the programs for the formation of common energy markets, and a lot has been done in terms of a common electricity market. There are some issues regarding gas, but we are making progress there as well. We have already resolved many issues, and agreed on approaches,” Viktor Karankevich said.
In turn, Arzybek Kozhoshev emphasized the importance of developing mutually acceptable solutions on common energy markets. “We are going to discuss these issues at the upcoming meeting,” he said.
During his working trip to Minsk, the EEC minister visited the Mingaz facilities. He praised Belarus' experience in gasification: “You are a leader in the EAEU. We have something to learn from.” Arzybek Kozhoshev also shared his opinion about Belarus' achievements in the nuclear power industry: “BelNPP is the most modern nuclear power plant. Everything that has been done within the framework of the project is impressive.”
