Electricity generation by Russian nuclear power plants ahead of projections in January-August

08.09.2015
In January-August 2015 Russian nuclear power plants (branches of the Rosenergoatom concern) generated 129.5 billion kWh of electricity, 5.3 billion kWh (4.3%) above the target (124.2 billion kWh). In money terms the excess electricity is valued at RUB2.9 billion, BelTA has learned.

In August 2015 electricity generation totaled 15.986 billion kWh, up from 14.227 billion kWh in August 2014.

In 2014 Rosenergoatom’s nuclear power plants generated nearly 180.5 billion kWh of electricity. It is the best figure in the history of the company and the Russian nuclear power engineering industry. There are plans to beat the record this year, including thanks to power-generating unit No. 3 of the Rostov nuclear power plant. The unit was connected to the power grid in late 2014 and is now in a test operation mode.

This year’s results are expected to include the full commissioning of power-generating unit No. 3 of the Rostov nuclear power plant and new units of the Beloyarsk and Novovoronezh nuclear power plants.
