Eurasian Economic Union’s common electricity market concept approved

The presidents of the Eurasian Economic Union member states have approved the concept for creating a common electricity market, BelTA learned from Viktor Khristenko, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, after the summit in Moscow on 8 May.

Viktor Khristenko remarked that electric energy industry will be kind of a pioneer in the Eurasian Economic Union. Plans have been made to get the common electricity market operational by 2019. “The concept provides for stages of creation of the common electricity market, goals and so,” explained the official.

In the future there are plans to create a common market for other energy resources in the Eurasian Economic Union.
