MINSK, 29 February (BelTA) – A session of the expert group of the CIS member states took place in the Moscow office of the CIS Executive Committee to coordinate the action plan on realizing the agreement on transboundary shipments of radioactive materials in the CIS states of 6 November 2020, BelTA learned from the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee.
Representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the CIS Commission on Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy, and the CIS Executive Committee took part in the meeting.
Participants of the meeting discussed in detail the submitted proposals concerning the draft plan and worked out a coordinated edition of the document. The approved action plan on realizing the agreement on transboundary shipments of radioactive materials in the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States is supposed to be submitted for consideration of the CIS Economic Council according to the established procedure.
The plan’s realization will help improve control over transported radioactive materials, minimize delays and stops of transboundary shipments of radioactive materials, and reduce radiation risks as a whole.
