Far-fetched complaints about safety of Belarusian nuclear station

Complaints about the safety of the Belarusian nuclear power plant are far-fetched. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement at the conference with heads of diplomatic missions and consular institutions of Belarus on 17 July, BelTA has learned.
“The scale of the project, which is not universally approved of, is unparalleled. We face pressure within the framework of bilateral relations and international organizations. They claim we have failed to get the final approvals and that our nuclear power plant is not safe. Enough! We have received the final approvals and the power plant is safe!” stressed the Belarusian leader.
“The Foreign Ministry, the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry, and other agencies concerned should organize their work in a way to defuse these far-fetched complaints,” the President said. Alexander Lukashenko went on saying that in essence the project has brought about a new branch of the national economy in Belarus.
At the same time the head of state urged to pay proper attention to projects that envisage using alternative and renewable sources of energy alongside the construction of the nuclear power plant. “Particularly since even the organizations one can hardly accuse of liking us are ready to allocate money for these ‘trendy’ projects,” remarked the Belarusian leader.
