Interagency task force on energy industry set up in Belarus

An interagency task force to supervise the operation and the development of the energy sector has been established in Belarus, reads the order signed by Belarus’ Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich, BelTA learnt from the press service of the government.
The task force is established in pursuance of the order of the President following the 16 April government session to review the operation of the energy industry.
The task force headed by First Deputy Economy Minister Anatoly Filonov includes Deputy Finance Minister Ivan Shunko, Director of the Pricing Policy Department of the Belarusian Finance Ministry Igor Fomin, deputy head of the department for compressor plants, environment protection and energy efficiency of the Beltransgaz company Leonid Shenets and research supervisor of the laboratory of energy security of the NASB Institute of Power Alexander Mikhalevich.
The interagency task force will analyze the validity of the existing tariffs on natural gas, electrical and heat energy for households. It will also review the Energy Ministry’s investment policy in part of the financing of some projects. Besides, the experts will analyze the export and import of electricity and will assess the feasibility of development of new generating capacities in Belarus.
