Komarov: Rosatom leads the world’s NPP construction market

09.10.2013

Rosatom remains the world’s leading nuclear power plant construction company, Deputy Director General at Rosatom Kirill Komarov said at the European nuclear industry suppliers forum Atomex Europe, BelTA learnt from the press service of Atomexpo (Russia). The forum is taking place in the Czech city of Brno within the framework of the 55th international mechanical engineering expo MSV 2013 on 8-9 October.

According to Kirill Komarov, Rosatom has managed to maintain the leadership, because it never stopped constructing nuclear power plants, unlike other companies. “We are building NPPs around the world and we have recently made some progress in Europe,” he said.

According to Rosatom, the company is now busy constructing nine power generating units with pressurized water reactors in Russia and 19 abroad.

During the forum Rosatom will present its NPP construction projects, including the projects to build the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, the Baltic Nuclear Power Plant, the Turkish nuclear power plant Akkuyu, the Indian power plant Kudankulam, the Vietnamese nuclear power plant Ninh Thuan.

ZAO Rusatom Overseas and the Civil Nuclear Cooperation Center at the Czech Technical University in Prague signed a memorandum of cooperation during the forum. The participants of Atomex Europe discussed construction of nuclear power plants to the Russian design, international innovative projects in nuclear energy and new opportunities for suppliers.

For the first time, within the framework of the 55th international mechanical engineering expo MSV 2013 Rosatom arranged a large-scale exposition on the area of 200 square meters. The participants showed tremendous interest in the interactive 3D model of AES-2006. Numerous visitors could also see dummies of the Multifunctional Research Reactor on Fast Neutrons and the reactor on fast neutrons with lead-bismuth heat carrier.

The second day of the forum, October 9, will be held at Rosatom’s booth. Delegates will be able to learn about the advanced engineering technology of Multi D design which is used to construct the third power generating unit of the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant.
