Lithuanian complaints about Belarusian nuclear power plant commented

On 9 June Dmitry Mironchik, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on the note the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released concerning the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA has learned.

Dmitry Mironchik said: “On the one hand, competent Belarusian agencies gave their answers even before we received this note. On 3 June Vladimir Makei clearly outlined our stance and highlighted the key points in response to Lithuanian complaints about the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. However, as far as I know, no Lithuanian-speaking mass media has been interested in these answers for some reason. No Lithuanian-speaking mass media has shared these answers with their readers. This kind of unanimity prompts certain conclusions.”

The Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs remarked that in order to confirm their conclusions the Lithuanian side had chosen a source of dubious reputation, to put it mildly. “As for the extensive answers given in response to Lithuanian questions even regardless of the note, you must be aware that expert consultations will take place in Vilnius on 21-22 June. During the consultations we will be ready to discuss the entire range of matters concerning the nuclear power plant, including the choice of the construction site location and construction progress,” said Dmitry Mironchik.

In his words, the expert meeting is the right format for having a dialogue in a calm and professional manner, without excessive politics, revelations out of proportion and exposures by secret services.
