MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Local fuels substitute about 3.1 billion m3 of natural gas in Belarus per year, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairman of the State Standardization Committee of Belarus, Director of the Energy Effectiveness Department Vitaly Kretsky.
Close attention is paid in Belarus to the inclusion of domestic energy resources into the country's energy mix. “Despite the successful commissioning of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant local fuel and energy resources have not been discarded. Today we use them to substitute about 3.1 billion m3 of natural gas per annum. Over 50% of about 10,500 energy sources in the country use local energy resources,” Vitaly Kretsky noted.
In 11 out of Belarus' 118 districts the share of local energy resources in the fuel mix exceeds 90%, he added.
