MOSCOW, 11 October (BelTA) - New geopolitical conditions create a basis for deeper integration in the energy sector in the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Union, Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich said at the international forum Russian Energy Week in Moscow on 11 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry.

According to Viktor Karankevich, work is underway as part of strategic cooperation with partners in the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Union to develop united energy markets. “We are gradually advancing in the issues of harmonizing common approaches to their functioning,” he said. “At the same time, new geopolitical conditions create the basis for deeper integration of our countries in the development of power grid infrastructure, generating capacities, digital transformation of the energy complex.”

The minister named the nuclear power industry as the most important driver for the implementation of high-tech projects. “With our partner - Rosatom State Corporation - we are working to maximize the use of the potential accumulated in the industry. We are talking not only about the construction of BelNPP, its operation, technical support and scientific support, radioactive waste management, but also about related areas: nuclear medicine, industry, electric transport, simulator construction, digitalization,” he explained.

According to Viktor Karankevich, plans are in place to set up a center of additive technologies, assembly production of energy storage systems for energy facilities and electric transport in Belarus. All these areas are an important component to strengthen the technological sovereignty of the Union State, he said.
