Cooperation between Belarus and the IAEA has been developing very intensively, IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano told reporters after visiting the Belarusian NPP, BelTA has learned.
“Cooperation between Belarus and the IAEA is very intensive,” Mr Yukiya Amano stressed. He explained that Belarus has already invited several IAEA expert missions. “Leading experts in nuclear energy got acquainted with Belarus’ experience and examined the good practices that have been developed in your country,” he noted.
Mr Yukiya Amano believes that the invitation of such missions means that Belarus cooperates with the international nuclear community. During these visits, the IAEA makes specific proposals, and, according to the head of the Agency, Belarus pays heed to them.
“Belarus is a valuable partner for the IAEA. I hope that my visit will further contribute to the strengthening of relations between Belarus and the IAEA,” Mr Yukiya Amano said.
