Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban meets with Rosatom Director General Aleksei Likhachev

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban met with Rosatom Director General Aleksei Likhachev in Budapest on 14 June 2017. The Rosatom head was in Hungary on a working visit.

The parties discussed the Russian-Hungarian bilateral cooperation in nuclear energy and the construction of two new units of the Paks NPP.

The two parties welcomed the progress in the implementation of the project which entered into an active phase after the European Commission concluded its investigation in March 2017.

The parties also discussed the next steps to be taken within the framework of the Paks-2 NPP project, including measures to ensure a 40% localization as envisaged in the intergovernmental agreement.

“Hungarian companies have considerable experience and expertise. We hope Hungarian firms will take an active part in the design, construction and supply of equipment and materials for the future plant,”  Aleksei Likhachev said.
