Oil fountain from new Belarusian well in Venezuela
22.08.2014
A new well drilled by specialists of the Belarusian-Venezuelan company Petrolera Bielovenezolana in Venezuela has resulted in oil flow to surface, the press service of the Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft told BelTA.
The well unplugged the most productive part of the previously surveyed deposits in block X Lago Medio at Lake Maracaibo. The oil-saturated thickness of the discovered horizon is 60 meters. Over the two weeks of commercial operation of the oil well the oil output came close to 30,000 barrels or 4,200 tonnes.
In 2008 the oil field was handed over to the Belarusian-Venezuelan company Petrolera Bielovenezolana. A lot of work was done before drilling started. Geological information and commercial information were examined, product parameters and operational parameters of previously drilled wells were studied in detail, and possible drilling risks were assessed.
According to the source, the well represents the second oil flow to surface secured by the Belarusian-Venezuelan company Petrolera Bielovenezolana this year using step-out wells. In May 2014 well No. 103 in block VIII produced a fountain of virtually pure oil with the flow rate of nearly 310 tonnes per day.
